Inclusive Digital Citizen Science: a technology-driven applied linguistics project within a disability studies framework

The DigInCiteS project aims to lay the foundations for the inclusive implementation of Citizen Science projects. The project is a collaboration between ZHAW (School of Applied Linguistics), UZH (Citizen Science Zurich and Institute of Education), insieme Winterthur-ZüriUnterland, and the Archivio Diversità Cognitiva Association.

Specifically, the project has two objectives:

  1. The accessibility of digital Citizen Science tools is being tested, evaluated, and further developed.

  2. Best practices for implementing inclusive digital Citizen Science projects are being developed.

Both goals are worked on together with people with cognitive impairments.

The foundations thus laid are intended to promote the implementation of further inclusive Citizen Science projects in various disciplines. As part of this project, Citizen Science Zurich is committed to ensuring that digital Citizen Science tools and platforms are tested together with co-researchers, that opportunities for improvement are discussed jointly, and that their feasibility is examined.
